Experiment to demonstrate the change of direction of the magnetic field on either side of the Equator Line: water drains out of a basin differently if your are standing:

• on the Equator Line, the water poor straight down without any vortex
• 15 metres North of the Equator line the water drains in a clock-wise vortex (like in UK!)
• 15 metres South of the Equator line, the water drains in an anti-clockwise vortex.

This magnetic phenomenon can also be seen in the way plants grown (ie climbing plants will wind themselves clockwise in the northern hemisphere and anti-clockwise in the southern hemisphere). Tornados have been ovserved as spinning clockwise or anti-clockwise depending on their location...
